Firing Squad

Ingredients:
  • 2oz (60ml) Blanco Tequila (must be 100% Agave)
  • 3/4oz (22ml) Grenadine
  • 3/4oz (22ml) Lime Juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 1oz (or to taste) Soda Water
  • Garnish - Lime wheel
  • Glass - Collins
Instructions:
  1. Add all ingredients, except for the soda, into to a mixing tin and shake over ice.
  2. Double-strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Top up with soda
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel
Notes
I tried this drink with crappy off-the-shelf grenadine and though it was missing some flavor. Since then I've got some sweet home-made grenadine that has a much deeper flavor, so this could still be a winner.

Classic Margarita

Ingredients
  • 1.5oz (45ml) 100% Agave Tequila (your choice of style)
  • 1oz (30ml) Triple Sec (Cointreau)
  • 1/2oz (15ml) Fresh lime juice
  • Garnish - Lime wheel
  • Ice - crushed
  • Optional - salt rim
Instructions

  1. Salt rim of glass if desired
  2. Shake all ingredients over ice and double-strain into old fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel
Notes
This is a more classic recipe near as I can tell, being 3:2:1. No sweetener in this one aside from the Triple Sec, so the crushed ice is recommended as it cuts the alcohol when it melts. It was good, but Jeffrey Morgenthaler's Margarita is still my favorite.

Margarita - Jeffrey Morgenthaler

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz (60ml) Blanco (Silver) Tequila. Always buy 100% Agave Tequila.
  • 1 oz (30ml) Triple Sec (Countreu)
  • 3/4oz (22ml) Lime Juice
  • 3/4oz (22ml) Juice Lemon
  • 3/4oz (22ml) 1:1 Simple Syrup
  • Garnish - Lemon or lime wheel
  • Optional - Salt rim
  • Glass - Old Fashioned or Coup/Cocktail Glass
Instructions:
  1. Salt rim of glass if desired
  2. Shake all ingredients over ice and double-strain into old fashioned glass with ice or a chilled stemmed glass
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel
Notes
My favorite margarita recipe! Fresh, with the tart and strong balanced with the sweet. Great for summer and there's even a bulk version of it that makes 21 drinks. Would drink again. I didn't have any old fashioned at the time so the Collins Glass stood in.
